Man gets maximum in shooting death
The fatal shooting followed an argument.

MERCER, Pa. -- Michael Rogers, 30, of Mercer County Jail, has been sentenced to 141/2 to 29 years in prison for the shooting death of a man outside a Sharon bar in June 2003.
Mercer County Common Pleas Court Judge Francis Fornelli gave Rogers credit for 414 days already served. Rogers has been in jail on $2 million bond since the killing.
He pleaded guilty Aug. 9 to voluntary manslaughter and having firearms without a license, both felonies, and recklessly endangering another person, a misdemeanor.
Police were called to Styles Lounge, 395 E. Budd St., Sharon, at 1:49 a.m. June 16 and found the victim, Elliott Campbell, lying in the driveway. A witness told police Rogers and Campbell had argued inside the lounge. When Campbell left, according to the witness, Rogers pursued him and shot the unarmed man several times with a .40-caliber semiautomatic pistol. Campbell died at a local hospital about an hour later.
Also sentenced Friday:
Brian Harris, 20, of Second Avenue, Sharon, was sentenced to four months to two years in jail for theft by deception, a misdemeanor, and ordered to make restitution and perform 150 hours' community service. According to court documents, in September and October 2003, Harris and another man deceived a third man into giving them $22,000 in checks in the belief he was providing money to a lawyer for stock purchases, a lawsuit and other purposes. The crime took place in Sharon.
Willie Jones, 49, of the State Correctional Institute in Greensburg, was sentenced to 21/2 to six years in prison, consecutive to his current sentence, for criminal trespass, a felony. He was also ordered to make restitution.
According to court documents, on July 20, 2003, Jones broke into a Sharon home and took $312 and four rings.
Gregory Kennedy, 40, of Lawrence County Jail, was sentenced to 10 to 21 months in jail for two counts of misdemeanor theft by unlawful taking. According to court documents, on Jan. 11, 2004, Kennedy took a digital camera from a Mercer home and on May 30, 2003, he took credit cards, a purse and its contents, compact discs, cash, a cell phone and miscellaneous items valued at less than $2,000 from seven locations in Mercer.
