Liberty surges in second half, wallops LaBrae, 38-0, in TAC
LEAVITTSBURG -- Dania Gilliam rushed 14 times for 95 yards to help Liberty beat LaBrae 38-0 in a Trumbull Athletic Conference game Friday.
Brian Jones completed six of 11 passes for 93 yards and touchdown tosses to Marcellus Bowman and Brandon Cornwell covering 36 and 12 yards, respectively, for the Leopards (5-1, 2-1).
Cornwell had three catches for 31 yards.
Liberty led just 10-0 at the break, then scored 13 points in each of the final two quarters.
Todd Rowan completed nine of 20 passes for 111 yards for the Vikings (4-2, 2-1).
Brookfield 37, Champion 15
CHAMPION -- Dan Davies completed 15 of 27 passes for 162 yards and three touchdowns for the Warriors (3-3, 1-2 TAC).
Davies found Randy Hogue for touchdown aerials of 16 and 11 yards, then he hit David Dillon with a 22-yard scoring heave.
The Flashes (0-6, 0-3) opened a 15-0 lead in the second quarter, then the Warriors scored the next 37 points of the game.
Jack Toriello rushed 27 times for 104 yards for Champion.
Girard 49, Newton Falls 8
GIRARD -- Bobby Ovesny completed 20 of 29 passes for 250 yards and five touchdowns for the Indians (5-1, 2-1 TAC).
Ovesny threw four touchdowns to Ryan Collins covering 32, 24, 16 and 76 yards. Collins caught nine passes for 186 yards.
For the Tigers (1-5, 1-2), Mike Pelyak completed seven of 15 passes for 62 yards.
