PREP SOCCER ROUNDUP Willis leads Mooney girls past Canfield



She scored three goals in the 4-0 victory, Mooney's 11th.
STRUTHERS -- Junior Kelli Willis scored three goals to help lead the Cardinal Mooney High girls soccer team to a 4-0 win over Canfield on Thursday.
Willis has 17 goals this year and 72 in her career for Mooney (11-0-1).
Kelly Burke also scored her 11th goal of the season as Mooney took a 2-0 lead at the break.
Marisa Simon assisted twice, giving the junior 12 on the year and 44 in her career.
Vickie Dreiling and Mimi Vitello also had an assist each.
Ashley Conti saved six shots for Canfield (6-5). For Mooney, Natalie Humphreys had three saves.
Lakeview 2, Champion 1
CORTLAND -- Paige Poulis and Nikki Bevilacqua scored for the Bulldogs (8-2) in their Trumbull Athletic Conference win.
Rachel Taddei and Britni Morello added assists, and goalkeeper Lindsey Mellott made 14 saves.
For Champion (5-3-4), Eliza Slama scored off an assist by Brittany Bako. Goalkeeper Jessica Wood made eight saves.
Struthers 4, Youngstown Christian 4
AUSTINTOWN -- Dana Yash scored two goals, while Jordan Balogh and Brianne Rhorman scored for Struthers. Maddy Giancola made 11 saves.
For Youngstown Christian, Kara Cooper had two goals, while Arielle Floref and Chelsea Tate also scored. Kathy Wengard made eight saves.
Boys
HUBBARD -- Ryan Novotny, Nick Chaney and Chris DePaola each scored a goal to help Ursuline beat Hubbard 3-1.
Tales Gozzi had an assist for the Irish (4-4-2) and goalie Jared Daly recorded seven saves.
For the Eagles (4-8), Scott Northcott scored off a pass from Mark Sarisky.
Hubbard goalie Aaron Severa and Joe Cummings combined for 22 saves.
Mooney 2, Richfield Revere 0
RICHFIELD -- Senior Kiki Willis scored both goals for the Cardinals (9-0-1).
Zack Hernan and Nick Lutz had assists and Mooney goalie Jeff Seddon had three saves.
Kent Roosevelt 4, Boardman 3
BOARDMAN -- Sam Stoll, Bob Davis and Enriques Urrutia scored goals for the Spartans, who fell behind 3-0 in the first half.
Jeremy Winters had two assists -- both on corner kicks -- for Boardman (7-3-2), while Frank Dravecky had nine saves.
Canfield 3, Niles 1
NILES -- Scott Sidal and Tim Latimer each had a goal and an assist for Canfield in a Metro Athletic Conference game.
Jordan Uhl also scored for the Cardinals, while Latimer had two assists. Mike Musilli added 12 saves.
Nathan Mang scored for Niles.
Champion 6, Liberty 0
CHAMPION -- John Emery scored three second-half goals to lead the Flashes (9-0-3, 6-0-1 TAC).
Emery, a senior, has 30 goals this year, tying his own school record set last season.
Chris Palm, Max Brugler and Brett Sulonew also had a goal apiece for Champion, which led 1-0 at the break.
Warren JFK 2, Warren Harding 2
WARREN -- Brian Cullivan and Kyle Schimley each scored a goal as the Eagles (5-3-3, 0-2-2 Steel Valley Conference) took a 2-0 lead at the break.
Omar Omar scored twice in the second half for the Raiders (4-5-2, 1-3-1).
Schimley and Anthony Olive had assists and goalie Brian Wolnik recorded seven saves for JFK.
For Harding, Chris Penman had an assist and Ty Shehadi saved 15 shots in goal.
