Fitch rallies past Boardman in a Federal League battle.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Michelle Pelini had 27 hits, 11 kills, 15 digs and 13 points as the Cardinal Mooney High volleyball team defeated Ursuline 25-13, 25-9, 25-22 to win the Steel Valley Conference title Thursday.
Taylor Pancoe added 20 hits, 10 kills, 10 digs, three aces and 12 points for the Cardinals (12-2).
Also for Mooney, Danielle Daltorio had 14 hits, 28 sets, 20 digs and 10 points, and Chelsea Mack had 14 hits, six kills, three aces, 20 sets and 13 points.
Fitch 16-25-25-25, Boardman 25-20-18-21
BOARDMAN -- Jessica Evans collected 16 kills, nine digs and seven blocks for Fitch in a Federal League match. Caitlin O'Patchen added 34 assists for the Falcons (8-7, 4-3).
For the Spartans (5-11, 1-7), April Melquist turned in 12 kills, nine blocks and seven aces. Jen DeChellis added 11 digs, while Alyssa Callauti had 10 digs and 13 points.

STRUTHERS -- Makenzie Kline paced the Cardinals (11-6, 6-3 Metro Athletic Conference) with 12 points, while Kelly Reese assisted 11 times.
For the Wildcats (3-10, 1-7), Nicole Robelot had 10 digs and Jennifer McLaughlin had seven blocks.

NILES -- Alyssa Suckow picked up six kills and five blocks for Niles (3-13, 0-8 MAC).
Amanda Furey had 10 points for Niles.

LIBERTY -- Ami Markowitz had 14 kills and 10 points and Jessie Szakacs had 29 assists for the Leopards (5-8, 3-7 Trumbull Athletic Conference).
For the Tigers (1-12, 0-10), Molly Lenarcic had eight kills and Mindy Thomas had eight assists.

GIRARD -- Erin Stevens, a four-year starter, collected 12 points, four aces and two blocks for the Indians (13-3, 8-2 TAC).
Chelsea Morrison added 14 kills.
For Champion (2-10, 1-9), Heather Pegg had 12 kills and seven digs. Chentel Greathouse added seven points and 18 assists.

LEAVITTSBURG -- Callie Oyler led the Eagles (12-3, 9-0 TAC) with 17 kills.
Corrie Gasser assisted on 32 balls for Hubbard.

CORTLAND -- Lindsay Whetzel led the Bulldogs (12-4, 7-3 TAC) with 19 kills, 26 digs and 11 points. Michelle Antonelli added 42 assists, 11 points and 18 digs.
For Brookfield (8-7, 5-5), Rachel Pasquerilla had 43 assists, while Andrea Gladis had 11 points and four aces.
