Charged in 911 prank calls
SHARON, Pa. -- Police said they think they've solved a series of prank calls to the Mercer County 911 Center.
They charged Brandon J. Passel, 18, of Sherman Avenue with 18 counts of false alarms to public service agencies and seven counts of making terroristic threats.
Police said the calls, made between Sept. 11 and 22, reported false emergencies at various locations around the city. The terroristic threats charges stem from allegations of explosives' or other dangerous materials' being involved in the phony emergencies.
All of the calls were made from a cellular phone, police said.
A Sharon officer checking 911 tapes of the calls recognized Passel's voice, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was arraigned Wednesday before District Justice Henry Russo, who freed him on his own recognizance.
