SHARON, Pa. -- Former employees of Westinghouse Electric Corp. here will have an opportunity to tour the grounds of the former plant.
The owner of the plant site will have a special open house for former Westinghouse employees. Tours will be given of Winner Steel and Winner Industrial Park.
In addition, there will be a showing of recently found movies of Westinghouse employees at work in the 1940s and 1950s. A film will be shown to explain what Winner Steel Services does. Events begin at 9 a.m. Dec. 7
Those who wish to attend must call (724) 983-4084 and leave a message about how many will be in their party.
Parking will be in the lot across from the main gate on Sharpsville Avenue.
Westinghouse opened a transformer plant on 58-acre site in 1922 and ceased operations at the plant in 1985 and has since sold it off in pieces. AK Steel owns the northern end and has a pipe warehouse there. Winner Steel Services occupies the southern end.
Winner Development LLC owns the rest, about 1 million square feet of industrial and office space that is being converted into an industrial park.
