PREP FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS McKinley advances to title game, 20-17



Cincinnati Colerain won easily to secure the other Division I berth.

MASSILLON -- Theo Goodright ran for two touchdowns and Canton McKinley beat Cleveland Glenville 20-17 in a Division I state semifinal Saturday night.
Martin Jackson secured the victory for McKinley (13-1) by intercepting a pass in the end zone with 1:01 remaining.
Quarterback Mike Schafer caught a 25-yard TD pass from running back Ryan Brinson for McKinley.
Jamorio O'Neal returned a punt 98 yards for one touchdown and quarterback Arvil Nelson ran for a score for Glenville (12-2).
Brinson finished with 95 yards on 24 carries.
Cin. Colerain 34,Worthington Kilbourne 3
DAYTON -- Quarterback Dominick Goodman ran for three touchdowns and Mister Simpson had two touchdown runs for Cincinnati Colerain in the other Div. I semifinal.
Goodman finished with 194 yards on 16 carries and Simpson ran for 129 yards on 18 carries as Colerain (14-0) did not attempt a pass and ran for 366 yards in a game played in rain and wind.
Kilbourne (11-3) had 122 of its 145 yards on the ground.
Cle. Benedictine 38,Canal Fulton Northwest 20
CANTON -- Jahmal Brown rushed for 185 yards and scored on offense and defense and Benedictine rallied in the fourth quarter in a Div. III semifinal.
Northwest took a 20-17 lead on Scott Weber's 9-yard touchdown run with 7:06 remaining in the game.
Rashad King then scored on a 98-yard kickoff return, Brown returned an interception 70 yards for a touchdown and Chris Austin ran for a 35-yard touchdown for the defending state champions (11-3).
Brown ran for 63 yards for a score in the third quarter to cut Northwest's lead to 13-10.
Weber finished with 158 yards on 28 carries and had two scores for Northwest (12-2).
St. Marys Memorial 14,Col. Watterson 3
UPPER ARLINGTON -- Justin Nagel scored on a 62-yard run and Corey Vossler returned a fumble 38 yards for a touchdown in St. Marys Memorial's victory in the other Div. III semifinal.
St. Marys (13-1), which managed only 105 yards of offense, took the lead on Nagel's run in the third quarter and sealed the game when Vossler recovered Sam Jacobs' fumble later in the quarter.
Matt Swartz kicked a 23-yard field for Watterson (11-3).
St. Henry 13,Hamler Patrick Henry 0
LIMA -- Joe Hemmelgarn scored two touchdowns and ran for 164 yards for St. Henry in a Div. V semifinal.
The St. Henry (13-1) defense shut down Patrick Henry quarterback Zack George, who threw for more than 2,000 yards this season. He completed 10-of-26 passes for 80 yards and threw three interceptions.
Patrick Henry (13-1) also lost a fumble in a game played in a driving rain.
Hemmelgarn scored on an 11-yard run in the first quarter and a 27-yard run with 4:13 remaining in the game that secured the win.
Josh Strub ran for 75 yards on 20 carries for Patrick Henry.
Amanda Clearcreek 22,Smithville 6
DUBLIN -- Nate Saum and Kent Phillips rushed for a touchdown apiece to lead Amanda-Clearcreek in the other Div. V semifinal.
Saum scored in the third quarter and finished with 177 yards on 30 carries, while Phillips, who scored in the first quarter, had 111 yards on 23 runs for Amanda-Clearcreek (14-0).
Kicker Carlos Del Angel had field goals of 24, 33 and 43 yards.
Smithville (12-2) scored with 2:38 left in the game when quarterback Jayce Hartzler ran 25 yards for a touchdown.
