Dave Mathews hit six 3-pointers to lead Struthers in season-opening win.
AUSTINTOWN -- Alexis Hall scored 15 points to lead Fitch High over Poland, 44-34, Saturday in a girls basketball game.
Krista Mayes added 13 points and Meghan McDermott scored seven for the Falcons (2-1), who matched their win total from last season.
Alex Rockicki scored 15 points for Poland (0-1), all on five 3-point baskets. Erin Hawkins added eight points and Dee Muransky finished with six.
Canfield 58, Rayen 55
CANFIELD -- Stephanie Zunic scored 17 points to lead Canfield (2-0), which saw a 10-point lead after three quarters whittled down by the final horn.
Bryanne Halfhill and Katie Popovec scored 10 points apiece for the Cardinals.
Taniesha Holland scored 26 points for Rayen. She is averaging 28.0 points per game for the Tigers (1-1). Holland scored eight points, including a pair of 3-pointers, in the fourth quarter as Rayen made its comeback. Rilona Neal added eight points and Brittany Taylor scored seven.
Walsh Jesuit 53, Mooney 40
CUYAHOGA FALLS -- Amber Bodrick scored 23 points and 10 rebounds, both team highs, for Mooney, playing in its season opener.
Dana Palazzo had a pair of assists for the Cardinals.
Kristen May and Caitlin Surezk scored 11 points apiece for Walsh Jesuit (2-1). Jessica Gillen added eight rebounds.
Springfield 62, South Range 42
COLUMBIANA -- Lindsey Johnson had 18 points and 12 rebounds for Springfield (1-1). Johnson needs 14 points to reach 1,000 for her career. The Tigers play Mooney on Thursday.
Samantha Cavalier had 12 points and 10 rebounds for Springfield, while Angelina Fiurmara had 10 points and six steals. Mindy Ritzler scored 12 points.
Cindy Schuler had 14 points to lead South Range (0-2).
On Friday night, Springfield lost to St. Thomas, 58-55. Fiumara scored 19 points for the Tigers, and Johnson had 18 points and 15 rebounds.
Carly Pavlick scored 17 points for St. Thomas.

CHAMPION -- Dave Mathews scored 24 points and A.J. Ward added 15 to lead Struthers over Champion, 56-54, in the season opener for both teams.
Mathews hit six 3-pointers for the Wildcats.
Mark Jackson scored 15 points, Jake Gross added 13 and Tyler Kish scored 10 for Champion.
Salem 61, Chaney 45
SALEM -- Tommy Jesko and Ben Miller led the Quakers with 12 points apiece.
Ryan Benchwick added 10 points for Salem (1-0), and Jarin Heath had 12 rebounds and four assists. Jesko had five assists.
Kory Jackson scored 18 points for Chaney (0-1), while Antonio Fitzgerald added eight points and three rebounds.
Cory Council also had three rebounds.
Lisbon 57, Lowellville 49
LOWELLVILLE -- Marcus Judy scored 17 points, while Dom DeFilippo had 14 points and 14 rebounds, to lead Lisbon (1-0).
Judy also had five assists and four steals. Tim McClester finished with 13 points and nine rebounds for the Blue Devils, while Corey Smith had 11 points and three steals. Josh Grafton had nine rebounds and three steals.
Lowellville (0-1) was led by sophomore John Wilaj, who scored 19 points. Vince Broll scored 16.
Jackson-Milton 57,East Palestine 51
EAST PALESTINE -- Mark Balent led three Jackson-Milton players in double figures, scoring 14.
Andrew Whitmer added 13 and Josh Barringer scored 12 for the Bluejays (1-1).
East Palestine (0-1) was led by Jake Harvey, who scored 17 points. Brett Young added 16 points, Dan Hanolt scored 10 and Joe Thompson had nine rebounds.
