BOARDMAN -- The eighth annual Boardman Community Christmas will be from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the gazebo in Boardman Park. Santa will arrive at 3 p.m., with music provided by the Boardman High School Band. Christmas caroling will be led by Linda Smrek.

Man sues over firing
YOUNGSTOWN -- An ex-employee has filed a wrongful termination lawsuit in U.S. District Court against the City of Warren, claiming he was dismissed from employment after being harassed and discriminated against. Alvin L. and Helen Howard, his wife, 1143 Orlo Drive N.W., filed the complaint last week. Howard says he was dismissed Nov. 28, 2002, but his type of job isn't specified in the complaint. The complaint alleges the city retaliated against him for filing a lawsuit in 1999 against Warren in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court. The Howards seek more than $1 million in damages, attorney fees and costs.
Facing weapons charges
YOUNGSTOWN -- Archie D. Morris, 49, of Roslyn Drive, was arrested on charges of carrying a concealed weapon and illegal possession of a weapon after police arrived at A & amp;N Market on Belmont Avenue on Saturday afternoon. Police were there to check out a report of a man waving a gun in the parking lot. A loaded .357 Magnum was found near the rear tire of a vehicle in the parking lot. Two witnesses identified Morris as the man who put it there. A check showed that Morris has many felony convictions, including CCW, attempted murder, attempted aggravated murder and felonious assault, police said.
Drivers report break-ins
YOUNGSTOWN -- Three drivers -- from Struthers, Youngstown and Girard -- reported to police about 2:30 a.m. Sunday that their vehicles, parked in a lot next to 131 W. Commerce St. downtown, had been broken into and items stolen. Door locks were punched in to gain entry. Stereo equipment, including in-dash CD players, was taken during the break-ins.
Drug possession charge
YOUNGSTOWN -- Dale L. Milnes, 41, of East Palestine, was arrested at 12:05 a.m. Sunday on charges of possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia (crack pipe) and consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle. Members of the Street Crimes Unit said they saw Milnes drinking from a 40-ounce bottle of beer while seated in his car in a driveway on Ridge Avenue. Police said they found suspected crack and a crack pipe in the car. He was taken to the Mahoning County jail.
Sound-alike warning
BOARDMAN -- Township police have issued their second warning about an organization based in Canton that goes by the name of Volunteer Rescue Mission and has applied for solicitor's permits for six individuals. Police advise residents that this organization is not affiliated with the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley.
