Soldiers' ATVs are stolen after return from Iraq

AKRON (AP) -- Two soldiers who just returned home from service in Iraq had their all-terrain vehicles stolen before they could begin a long-planned getaway.
Jason Andrews, 20, and his girlfriend, Amanda Adamson, 21, came home last weekend from Iraq, where they had been serving with the 216th Engineer Battalion of the Ohio Army National Guard.
Andrews said they had been planning to take a trip today with relatives to farm country in Pennsylvania with their ATVs. But the ATVs and a trailer were stolen sometime early Friday from outside the Andrews family home in nearby Springfield Township.
"It's just outrageous," said Andrews' mother, Brenda Andrews. "Here they are, two soldiers fighting for their country, and this is how they're paid back. It was just something they wanted to enjoy while they're at home, and it's taken from them."
Jason Andrews bought the trailer Monday. His girlfriend had just made a down payment on her ATV, which was stolen along with Andrews' ATV.
Police Capt. Garry Moneypenny said there was some hope of recovering the trailer and the ATVs based on serial numbers entered into a nationwide computer list of stolen vehicles.
