Rutgers premed student is shot, killed in robbery

JERSEY CITY, N.J.(AP) -- A premed student who worked as a cab driver was shot and killed during an apparent robbery, police said.
Rady Khella, 25, was shot in the back of the head by one of three men who witnesses saw jump out of the cab early Thursday. Police said he had picked up his last fare more than an hour earlier, but could have picked up several passengers after that.
Police found only small change in his pockets.
Khella, a premed student at Rutgers University-Newark who emigrated from Egypt eight years ago, started driving a cab to support his family when his father fell ill. He earned a psychology degree from St. Peters College, graduating with a 4.0 grade point average.
Khella's sister, Noura Khella, said he had planned to spend Thanksgiving with his mother. "Thanksgiving was his favorite holiday. He bought my mom a turkey and everything," she said.
