PROMOTIONS
Lieutenant colonel
Louis P. Paolone, son of Carmel E. Paolone of Girard and the late Razzy Paolone, was promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel in the Air Force during ceremonies recently at Fort Belvoir, Va.
Lt. Col. Paolone is assigned to the national Geospatial-Intelligence Agency and will be deployed to Iraq after Jan. 1, 2005. He is a 2003 graduate of the Naval War College in Newport, R.I.
Gunnery sergeant
Marine Corps Gunnery Sgt. Michael J. Barriball, son of Diane M. and Verle A. Barriball of Jefferson, Ohio, recently was promoted to his current rank while serving with Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 12, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Corps Air Station, Iwakuni, Japan.
Barriball was promoted based on sustained superior job performance and proficiency in his designated specialty. He is a 1991 graduate of Jefferson Area High School and joined the Marine Corps in October 1991.
ADVANCED TRAINING
Supply specialist
Army Pvt. Robert P. Lewis has graduated from the Unit Supply Specialist Advanced Individual Training course at Fort Lee, Petersburg, Va.
Lewis was trained in various aspects of supplies and equipment: automated supply systems for accountability with use of computers; issue and receipt of small arms; and secure and control weapons and ammunition supplies.
Lewis is the son of Shari A. Bowling of Wellsville and Robert L. Lewis of East Liverpool. He is a 2002 graduate of Wellsville High School.
