AMERICORPS Kids museum honors holidays

After the stories, kids get to perform activities based on the books.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Through reading, kids can learn that there's more than one way to celebrate who they are.
From 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Youngstown Reads Early AmeriCorps will host a free evening of storytelling and activities at the Children's Museum of the Valley, located at 139 E. Boardman St., in downtown Youngstown.
The theme is "December Holidays" and stories will celebrate culturally diverse holidays such as Kwanzaa, Hanukkah and Christmas.
AmeriCorps members will read stories aloud to the children, who will then get to do an activity related to each holiday.
Children who are read to regularly have the foundation for lifelong academic success. Youngstown Reads Early AmeriCorps hosts free storytellings at the Children's Museum on the first Wednesday of every month. For more information call Liz Nohra at (330) 744-5914.
