Phantoms fall
TOLEDO -- The Youngstown Phantoms dropped a 4-3 decision to the Toledo Ice Diggers in an overtime shootout Wednesday.
Three goals by Ross Enmark -- two during regulation play and one in the shootout -- lifted Toledo.
The Phantoms (12-5-2, 26 points) had won all five of their previous meetings with the Ice Diggers (10-8-3, 23 points) this season.
Youngstown did pick up a point as a result of the regulation tie.
The game was tied 1-1 after the opening period as Youngstown's Kyle Laughlin and Enmark scored the goals. The Ice Diggers had a 3-2 advantage late in the second period before Dale Michonski of the Phantoms tied the score by ripping a shot in the slot past goaltender Justin Marriott at 17:59. Neither team scored in the third period or in the five-minute overtime session.
Youngstown out-shot Toledo, 48-28.
Phantoms' goaltender Tommy O'Brien stopped the Ice Diggers' first three attempts during the shootout before Enmark put the puck in the net for the decisive goal.
Youngstown will play host to the Soo Indians in a pair of 7 p.m. games at The Ice Zone tonight and Saturday.

Back spasms force Palmer out of practice
CINCINNATI -- Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer left practice Thursday with back spasms but is expected to be ready for the next game against the Cleveland Browns.
Palmer, the top overall pick in last year's draft, has taken every snap in his first season running the offense. He developed back spasms Thursday during the first half of a practice that was closed to the media.
"He spent the second half in treatment," coach Marvin Lewis said. "We expect he'll be fine."
Palmer was listed as probable for a game Sunday against the Browns.
The Heisman Trophy winner didn't play in his rookie season, watching as Jon Kitna took every snap and won the league's Comeback Player of the Year award.
Minnesota centerarrested at club
INDIANAPOLIS -- Minnesota Timberwolves center Michael Olowokandi was arrested early Thursday morning after he refused to leave a club.
Police officers used a stun gun to subdue Olowokandi, 29, and take him into custody at about 3 a.m. after he refused to leave Tiki Bob's, said Indianapolis Police spokesman Sgt. Stephen Staletovich.
Olowokandi was charged with disorderly conduct and criminal trespassing, both misdemeanors, Staletovich said.
Olowokandi was held overnight in an Indianapolis jail and released Thursday afternoon on his own recognizance. The Timberwolves were in Indianapolis to play the Indiana Pacers later Thursday at Conseco Fieldhouse.
Staletovich said the club's manager asked police, who were investigating another call, to help him get the 7-foot Olowokandi to leave. He refused, and police shocked him twice with a stun gun until he complied and they took him into custody.
Bowe to miss fight due to shoulder injury
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Former heavyweight champion Riddick Bowe will not fight Kenny Craven on Saturday because of a shoulder injury.
Bowe hurt himself training Monday or Tuesday, promoter Chris Webb of Straight Up Promotions said in a statement Thursday.
Bowe, who was to fight Craven in the main event on a seven-fight card, had an MRI on the shoulder Wednesday.
"There is some damage there," Webb was quoted as saying in the Louisville Courier-Journal.
There was no immediate word on a replacement for Bowe.
Bowe (41-1, 33 knockouts) was scheduled to take on Craven (25-13, 22 KOs) in a bout that was billed as "The Redemption."
Webb said Bowe will remain in Louisville and hopes to take part in a January bout.

Both players were in uniform for the Pacers' game against Minnesota Thursday.
Brown retires
MEMPHIS -- Hubie Brown retired as coach of the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday due to health reasons.
"Unexpected health-related issues will not allow me to continue coaching the Memphis Grizzlies," the 71-year-old Brown said in a statement. "This situation was unforeseen and absolutely nonexistent at the beginning of the season."
Assistant coach Lionel Hollins was named interim coach, Grizzlies president Jerry West said.
Brown was not available for comment Thursday. The team scheduled a news conference for today.
Brown was the oldest coach in the NBA when he returned to the league in 2002 after a 16-year break.
Brown had an 83-85 record with the Grizzlies. He was named NBA Coach of the Year last season after leading Memphis to a 50-32 record and its first playoff appearance.
Brown retired one day after the Grizzlies lost to the Seattle SuperSonics 93-84 and slipped to 5-7. He made no reference to retiring after the game.
