Labra to be recipient of national award for volunteerism



YOUNGSTOWN -- Armando Labra of Canfield, president of the Mexican Mutual Society of Youngstown, will be honored with a national honorable mention award as Individual Adult Male Volunteer of the Year by the Asociacion Mexicana de Voluntarios AC during a ceremony Dec. 6 in Mexico City.
AMEVAC is a national Mexican organization committed to volunteerism. President Vincente Fox of Mexico will present the award.
As a representative of the Mexican-American community, Labra earned the recognition for his community service in the Mahoning Valley.
He is employed by General Motors Fabricating Plant. He is also a member of the UAW Local 1714 and St. Rose of Lima Church in Youngstown. He and his wife, Christina, have four children.
