Taneisha Holland had a big game for Rayen School.
CANFIELD -- Canfield High rallied from a 42-30 deficit after three quarters, outscoring Warren Harding 23-9 over the final eight minutes, for a 53-49 victory in a girls basketball game Monday night.
Kate Popovec scored 25 points to lead the Cardinals (1-0). She scored nine points to lead the fourth-quarter rally. Stephanie Zunic and Danielle Pavlansky sank 3-pointers in the quarter.
Brianne Halfhill added 11 points for Canfield.
Warren Harding (0-1) was led by Desirae Jenkins, who scored 14 points. Janine McDonald and Adrianne Battee had 10 points each. LaBrea Crawford had nine rebounds and Battee and McDonald had eight apiece.
Salem 61, Fitch 27
SALEM -- Jessica Hamilton scored 15 points and had six steals for Salem (2-0).
Katherine McGarry added 14 points, while Leah Perry had 10 points and eight rebounds. Laci Meals had four assists.
For Fitch (0-2), Alexis Hall scored 12 points and she pulled down 14 rebounds. Krista Mays added seven points and 10 rebounds.
Jefferson 54, Newton Falls 31
NEWTON FALLS -- Hayley Kapferer scored 19 points for Jefferson (1-0), and Alesa Knight added 10.
Newton Falls (0-2) was led by Emily Montgomery, who scored eight points.
Rayen 81, East Liverpool 30
YOUNGSTOWN -- Taneisha Holland led five Tigers in double figures, with 30 points, Monday night. She also had 10 rebounds and eight steals.
Danielle Liggins had 15 points and 13 rebounds for Rayen (1-0), Brittany Taylor had 11 points, and Keneisha Tennant and Rilonda Neal scored 10 apiece.
Heather Evans scored six points for East Liverpool (1-1).
Wilson 47, Southern 45
SALINEVILLE -- Keisha Letlow had 22 points and 14 rebounds as Wilson evened its record at 1-1 on Monday.
Aniqua Donlow had 22 rebounds and six assists, while Jasmine Pete had 10 points, eight assists and four steals.
