SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Megan Duffy scored 15 points and Jacqueline Batteast added 14 points, nine rebounds and seven assists to lead Notre Dame. After beating top 10 opponents Duke and Ohio State last week to win the Preseason WNIT, the Irish (5-0) had little trouble with the Rams (1-1). Notre Dame took control with a 20-4 run that started with five minutes remaining in the first half and extended into the second half, moving ahead 41-25 when Batteast hit a free throw with 15:33 remaining. Crystal Erwin added 12 points for the Irish on 6-of-9 shooting. Lindsay Thomas led the Rams with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
No. 12 Texas Tech 66, Rice 56
LUBBOCK, Texas -- Cisti Greenwalt scored 19 points and had 15 rebounds to lead Texas Tech over Rice. Greenwalt hit 7-of-18 from the field and 5-of-8 from the free throw line for the Lady Raiders (1-0). Alesha Robertson added 18 points for Texas Tech. Michelle Woods led Rice (2-2) with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Tech's Erin Grant sat out with an injured foot, breaking a string of 68 consecutive starts.
No. 14 Vanderbilt 61, Savannah St. 28
SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Ashley Earley had 17 points and 13 rebounds to help Vanderbilt defeat a mistake-plagued Savannah State.
Dee Davis finished with five of the Commodores' 15 steals. Midway through the first half, Vanderbilt (2-0) led 19-2 and held a 35-13 lead into the break. Kermetris Hill had nine points to lead Savannah State (1-1).
