NFL ROUNDUP News and notes

Vikings: Randy Moss is expected back on the field this week, provided his strained right hamstring doesn't swell. Coach Mike Tice said a reasonable plan for Moss in Sunday's game against Jacksonville is 25 plays, mostly in three-receiver formations. Since sustaining the injury Oct. 17 at New Orleans, Moss twice made token appearances without catching a pass and did not dress for the last three games. He's still tied for third in the NFC with eight touchdown receptions. Pro Bowl center Matt Birk, who has been playing with intense abdominal pain, might have to sit out a game or two next month to let the injury calm. He's expected to play against the Jaguars, though. Nat Dorsey, who took over at right tackle when Mike Rosenthal was lost for the season with a foot injury, strained his right shoulder and might have to miss this week.
Jets: Quarterback Chad Pennington will start throwing this week for the first time since straining his right rotator cuff, but his exact return to the lineup is uncertain. Pennington, injured against Buffalo on Nov. 7, met Monday with his doctors, who cleared him to begin soft tossing Wednesday. A second MRI exam was not required. He will miss his third straight game Sunday when the Jets play at Arizona.
Titans: Cornerback Andre Woolfolk had surgery Monday to repair his dislocated right wrist, which doctors could not put back into place. Rookie safety Justin Sandy broke his left ankle in his NFL debut 48 hours after being activated off the practice squad. They will join five other players already lost for the season on a team that had 11 others listed on the injury report last week before their 18-15 victory over Jacksonville. Coach Jeff Fisher also said Monday that left tackle Brad Hopkins will miss Sunday's game at Houston as he recovers from surgery on his broken right hand, and defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth (dislocated elbow) also remains unlikely to play. Left cornerback Samari Rolle tweaked his left knee in the third quarter and had to leave the game, and McGarrahan, the replacement for Tank Williams who tore an ACL last week, was hurt on the next series.
Packers: Thirty-three-year-old fullback William Henderson is the last healthy running back. Tailbacks Ahman Green (ribs) and Tony Fisher (neck stinger) and fullback Nick Luchey (shoulder) all got hurt Sunday night at Houston, as did rookie running back Walter Williams, who was elevated from the practice squad Saturday to replace tailback Najeh Davenport (hamstring) and sprained an ankle in his NFL debut. Green underwent a CT scan on his rib cage and Luchey had an MRI on his separated shoulder Monday.
Colts: Safety Bob Sanders will miss the next three to six weeks with a knee injury suffered in a 41-10 win over Chicago. Sanders suffered a sprained medial collateral ligament in his right knee. Strong safety Mike Doss will likely start Thursday at Detroit. The Colts also could be without starting guards Rick DeMulling and Tupe Peko for the second straight week.
Cardinals: The team terminated the contract of practice squad running back Joshua Rue, who was arrested last week on suspicion of domestic violence. Rue's wife called police from a gasoline station last Wednesday, claiming her husband shoved her inside their hotel room. She told officers Rue threw a coat hanger at her and then assaulted her, said Sgt. Dan Masters, a Tempe police spokesman. Initially, Rue's wife declined medical attention, but later complained of a broken arm. Officers found Rue, 25, in a car and arrested him. He was released from jail early last Thursday.
Seahawks: Receiver Koren Robinson was suspended without pay Monday for the next four games for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy. Robinson will sit out home games against Buffalo and Dallas, as well as road trips to Minnesota and the New York Jets. He is eligible to return for a Dec. 26 home game against Arizona.
