MEN'S TOP 25 ROUNDUP Wake Forest moves to No. 1, routs Yale, 99-72

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Wake Forest celebrated its first appearance at No. 1 with an easy victory.
Chris Paul, Eric Williams and Kyle Visser each scored 15 points to lead the Demon Deacons past Yale 99-72 Monday night.
Chris Ellis added 14 points for Wake Forest (3-0), which had five players in double figures. The Demon Deacons had little trouble on offense in the first half and maintained a comfortable lead throughout against the Bulldogs (1-2).
Hours earlier, the Demon Deacons climbed into the top spot of The Associated Press Top 25 for the first time in school history.
Casey Hughes had 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead Yale.
No. 3 Georgia Tech 60,Illinois-Chicago 59
CHICAGO -- Luke Schenscher made a pair of free throws with 25.9 seconds left to put Georgia Tech ahead, B.J. Elder hit three 3-pointers in the final nine minutes and the Yellow Jackets survived a scare from Illinois-Chicago.
The Flames had a chance to win, but freshman Kevin Bond missed a free throw with 6 seconds left and Justin Bowen's last-second jumper sailed wide. Still, it was a spirited effort by the Flames, who haven't beaten a ranked team since Dec. 12, 1989, when they upset No. 25 Michigan State.
Elder led the Yellow Jackets (2-0) with 17 points, and Jarret Jack and Isma'il Muhammad added 10 each.
Cedric Banks paced the Flames (0-1) with 23 points, including five 3-pointers.
No. 9 Duke 74, Davidson 61
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Daniel Ewing scored 16 of his 19 points in the second half and sparked two big runs to help Duke (2-0) beat Davidson for the 18th consecutive time.
Brendan Winters scored 24 points for the Wildcats (1-1) and Logan Kosmalski had 25 points and 13 rebounds.
J.J. Redick added 18 points for Duke, and Shelden Williams and Sean Dockery had 15 each.
Iowa 76, No. 12 Louisville 71
LAHAINA, Hawaii -- Jeff Horner scored 11 points in a 41/2-minute span of the second half, part of a nine-minute stretch when Iowa (2-0) held Louisville without a field goal in the opening round of the Maui Invitational.
Horner finished with 18 points and six assists. Pierre Pierce added 16 points for Iowa, and Greg Brunner had 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Francisco Garcia scored 17 for the Cardinals (1-1).
No. 15 Texas 84, Chaminade 62
LAHAINA, Hawaii -- Texas withstood foul trouble and the 3-point shooting of Chris Reaves.
P.J. Tucker had 15 points and 11 rebounds for the Longhorns (2-0). Reaves, a junior college transfer, hit his first six 3-point attempts, finished 8-for-10 from long range and scored 33 points for the Division II Silverswords (1-1).
No. 11 North Carolina 86,Brigham Young 50
LAHAINA, Hawaii -- Raymond Felton made quite a difference for North Carolina.
The junior guard missed the Tar Heels' season-opening loss to Santa Clara, but he was back and so was North Carolina's defense in the opening round of the Maui Invitational.
With Felton back at the point, the Tar Heels opened the game against BYU (0-1) with a 25-3 run.
Sean May had 18 points and eight rebounds for the Tar Heels, while Rashad McCants had 13 points.
Mike Hall had 10 points for BYU.
