COLLEGE RESULTS
Thiel wrestling -- Behind third-place finishes by senior heavyweight Kyle Brown and sophomore 165 pound Corey Murphy, Thiel finished third-place finish (108 pts.) at Saturday's Doug Parker Invitational, hosted by Springfield College. The Tomcats totaled a pair of third-place finishes, three fourth-place finishes and a fifth-place finish. Brown went 5-1, earning the second-most falls (4) and the fifth-most points scored (20.5) at the invite. He defeated Southern Maine's Matt Waite 5-1 in the consolation finals. Murphy was 5-1 and picked up a 4-3 victory over RIC's Arty Privedenyuk in the consolation finals. 184-pounder Nate Santelli wrestled to a fourth place finish, going 5-2. Santelli fell to Messiah's Tim Pentz 4-2 in the consolation finals. 149-pounder Anthony McCorvey finished fourth with a 6-2 record. McCorvey lost in the consolation finals 2-0 to Wesleyan's Kevin Egolf. Freshman 157 pound Brandon Council finished with a 5-2 record and took fourth. Junior 157 pound Ted Mangan was fifth at 157 pounds, finishing 5-2.
Westminster swimming -- Westminster's men's and women's swimming teams competed against the College of Wooster Saturday. The men (4-0) remained unbeaten with a 127-104 victory, while the Lady Titans (2-2) fell 122-101. For the men, sophomore Ryan Trunkwas a triple-winner, winning both the 50 (22.24) and 500 freestyle (4:59.68) while swimming the lead leg for the 200 freestyle relay team (1:28.83). Also earning a pair of individual wins for Westminster was junior Josh Hensler, who won both the 200 freestyle (1:51.79) and the 200 breaststroke (2:19.72). The Westminster women were led by freshman Stephanie Peters who captured the 100 freestyle (55.73) while also swimming the anchor leg for the
200 freestyle relay team (1:44.61). Other Lady Titan
individual winners were sophomore Amy Wirtz in the 200 butterfly (2:19.16) and freshman Becky Giles
in the 200 individual medley (2:13.63).
Hiram swimming -- The Hiram women lost to Wittenberg 139-95 and the Hiram men lost to Wittenberg 111-122.
