Police seek man in the abduction of local woman
WARREN -- City police and the Trumbull County Sheriff's Department are looking for a man as they continue to investigate a Sunday afternoon abduction.
The crime occurred in the parking lot of AVI Food on Elm Road, the sheriff's department said.
A police report stated a Southington Township woman was leaving work at 1 p.m. when a man approached her, stating that he wanted to have sex. He then forced her into her car at knifepoint.
A short time later at Quinn's Mini Mart at state Routes 88 and 193 in Johnston Township, the woman was able to get away from the man, who was believed to have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol. She was not injured.
She told deputy sheriffs that she had never seen the man before. He is believed to be about 45 years old with a mustache and goatee.
The man took off in the victim's car, which was later recovered on South Oakland Avenue in Sharon, Pa. Her cellular phone and purse were still in the vehicle.
The sheriff's department reported that the abduction may have been caught on video at the AVI parking lot.
