TRUMBULL COUNTY Rejected ballots total 665

The director can't recall a higher number of provisional votes being rejected.
WARREN -- The Trumbull County Board of Elections has rejected 665 provisional ballots cast in the general election, and is continuing its official vote count.
The elections board met Thursday to rule on the provisional ballots and to go ahead with its official count.
Reasons why the 665 ballots were tossed out, explained director Norma J. Williams, are:
U353 people were proved to be not registered to vote in Trumbull County.
U251 people voted in the wrong precinct.
U61 did not complete or sign all of the required information on the provisional ballot envelope.
Quotable
Williams termed 665 a "very high number" and said she suspects it had to do with the high voter turnout. "I just can't remember us rejecting that many voters before," she said.
The unofficial voter turnout in Trumbull County was 76.2 percent, or 108,533 not including provisional votes.
Provisional ballots encompass people who have moved within the state or county but didn't give the elections board that information 30 days before the election; people who walked into a polling place adamant about being in the right location to vote; or first-time voters who registered by mail.
Williams said she has trouble figuring out why people didn't know whether they were registered to vote, saying it's as simple as calling the elections board or checking the board's Web page.
The elections board does not plan to certify the official vote count until Nov. 29.
