Travel during the holidays to soar, AAA says

COLUMBUS (AP) -- For the first time, the number of travelers over the Thanksgiving holiday will top pre-9/11 levels, the AAA Ohio Auto Club predicts.
Spokeswoman Susan Stewart attributed the increase to improved confidence in the economy and less concern about security.
AAA estimates that 6.6 million residents of the Great Lakes region, which includes Ohio, will travel more than 50 miles from home.
Nationally, 37.2 million Americans will be on the road, 3.1 percent more than a year ago.
The forecast for holiday travel is up even though the price of gasoline has risen 30 percent in a year.
