LAWRENCE COUNTY Hearings set for 2 students accused of assaulting teens

Two teens required surgery because of their injuries.
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Preliminary hearings will be Nov. 23 in Lawrence County Central Court for two area college students accused of roughing up three teenagers at a fraternity party last weekend.
Louis J. Fani Jr., 22, of Green Tree, Pa., a student at Westminster College, is charged with aggravated assault, disorderly conduct and two counts of simple assault.
Adam M. Eury, 21, also of Green Tree, who attends the University of Pittsburgh, is charged with two counts each of aggravated assault and simple assault.
Allegations
New Wilmington police said that during a Sigma Nu fraternity party Friday night at 745 S. Market St., four teen males, all from the New Castle area, entered the frat house uninvited.
During a confrontation with the teens, Fani, who lived in the frat house, is accused of forcing a 16-year-old youth against the wall and striking him in the head with a can of beer.
Police said Fani and Eury followed two other youths, ages 16 and 18, out of the frat house as they attempted to leave. Eury, who was visiting Fani, is accused of punching the 16-year-old in the face two or three times, causing broken bones around the left eye that required surgery.
Both Eury and Fani also punched the 18-year-old in the face numerous times, resulting in a broken nose and surgery, police said.
The two men surrendered to police Monday at District Justice James Reed's office, where they were arraigned and released on their own recognizance.
Police said the youths threw no punches and made no attempt to defend themselves. Police Chief Carmen Piccirillo added that members of the fraternity who were not involved in the altercations fully cooperated with police.
