Scrappers get a new manager; Sarbaugh receives promotion



NILES -- The Cleveland Indians announced Rouglas Odor as the manager of the Mahoning Valley Scrappers for 2005.
Odor becomes the Scrappers' fifth manager in seven seasons. He spent the previous four seasons as manager for the Burlington Indians (Indians Rookie Affiliate).
Last year, Burlington finished with a 31-35 record. In four seasons at Burlington, Odor has a career record of 128-142 (.474).
Before joining the Indians field staff, Odor played six seasons in the Indians' minor leagues.
A 32nd round draft pick by the Indians out of the University of New Orleans, Odor made it to the Double A level with the Canton-Akron Indians.
Odor joined the Indians organization in 1995 and became the Venezuelan field coordinator in January 1998. He managed the Tribe's Venezuelan Summer League team in 1999 and 2000, including managing them to a championship in 2000 with a 41-16 record.

Mike Sarbaugh, who guided the Scrappers to the 2004 New York-Penn League championship, was promoted to the manager of the Lake County Captains (Class A).
Tony Arnold will be the Scrappers' pitching coach in 2005. He spent the last two seasons as pitching coach for the Captains and is beginning his 13th season in the Indians minor-league system.
In 2003 he was named the South Atlantic League Coach of the Year, as he guided the pitching staff to a league-low team ERA of 2.67. Before becoming the Lake County pitching coach, Arnold spent three seasons as the pitching coach of the Burlington Indians.
Arnold played 10 years in the Orioles organization, making his major-league debut in 1986.
Chris Bando will return as a coach in 2005, and Chad Wolfe returns as the team trainer. Bando spent last season as a coach for the Scrappers and roving catching instructor for the organization.
