Groomsmen charged
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Four groomsmen who didn't return their rented tuxedos to Main Street Clothiers on East Washington Street will now have to go to court, city police said.
Police filed theft of rented property charges against Carl Fisher, no age listed, of RD 1 Box 393, Ellwood City; Robert Brown, 26, of East Wallace Avenue, New Castle; Maceo E. Hill, 28, of Lyndall Street, New Castle; and Earl Brickner, 31, of Savannah Road, New Castle.
The tuxedos cost from $99 to $234, police said. They were all rented in July.
Crash injures three
GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Three people were injured in a two-car crash Friday afternoon on Kinsman and North Goodhope roads. Greenville-West Salem Police said they closed the intersection for some time after the 5:30 p.m. Friday crash and were still investigating the cause this morning.
Nicole Daris of Greenville was in the first vehicle, and Vicki Keller and Steven Loomis, both of Espyville, were in the other car. All three were taken by medical helicopter for treatment. Police did not release the names of the hospitals.
Assault charges
GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Brian Spohn Jr., 22, of Stewart Avenue has been charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, terroristic threats and unlawful restraint.
Police said he was arrested Thursday on a warrant. On Nov. 8, a 17-year-old boy was at Spohn's home to speak to a female when the juvenile was grabbed by the throat and struck several times in the head and face, police said. The victim eventually got away, police said.
Spohn was arraigned by District Justice William Fagley and remains in the Mercer County Jail this morning after failing to post $20,000 bond.
Contract awarded
LOWELLVILLE -- Paving projects at Pine Hollow Park, the baseball fields and the village garage may be completed this year, weather permitting.
Mayor James Iudiciani Sr. said Butch & amp; McCree Paving, Hillsville, Pa., was awarded the contract for the $32,600 project. Funding is provided by a Mahoning County Green Team recycling grant.
County car vandalized
YOUNGSTOWN -- All four tires were flattened and the front and rear windows and taillights smashed on a Mahoning County car parked in a lot at 1520 Market St., police said.
County records show the address is a convenience store. The vandalism was discovered Friday.
Cigarettes stolen
YOUNGSTOWN -- An undetermined amount of cigarettes was taken from the Speedway gas station on North Meridian Road on Sunday afternoon by a man who walked up to the counter and asked for two cartons, reports show.
When the clerk put the cartons on the counter, the man grabbed them and ran out toward Mahoning Avenue, police said.
