YSU events to celebrate international education



YOUNGSTOWN -- Cultural food, entertainment and clothing highlight three public events sponsored by the Youngstown State University Center for International Studies and Programs to commemorate International Education Week.
IEW, conducted nationally at higher education institutions and high schools Monday through Saturday is intended to provide the opportunity to celebrate international education in the United States.
Among the events:
UThe "Presentation of International Flags," 11:30 a.m. Monday in the Ohio Room of Kilcawley Center. YSU students will present international flags to YSU President David C. Sweet and Provost Tony Atwater.
U"Passport to the World," 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Ohio Room of Kilcawley Center. Local fifth-graders will wear cultural outfits as they learn about different societies through stories, entertainment and ethnic displays.
UInternational Festival, 6:30 p.m. Saturday, in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center. The campus and the community can share the culture of YSU international students at this event through food, dress and entertainment. Tickets are required and may be bought at the Center for International Studies and Programs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $15 for students and $20 for general admission.
