Stage Left presents 'Hey Li'l Red'
LISBON -- Kandy Cleland and Jodine Pilmer are the authors of "Hey Li'l Red," a one-act musical that Stage Left Players Youth Theatre will perform next weekend. It's inspired by the children's story "Little Red Riding Hood" and has a western theme to it. 'Goddess' show at Electric center
KENT -- Artist Nikia Vogel, 28, of Austintown, will display her show titled "Goddess" from 5 to 8 p.m. next Sunday at Electric Community Center, 252 N. Water St. Live bands and entertainers will perform, and food will be served. Vogel's works include paintings on canvas and stained glass.
'Art Reflection Day'
VILLA MARIA, Pa. -- An "Art Reflection Day: The Invitation" will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Villa Maria Retreat Center. Participants will view original paintings by Marilyn Collins, a professor of art at Kent State University, to look at the potential for creating community in social structure. Turkey of a movie
WARREN -- The Warren-Trumbull County Public Library will screen "Queen of Outer Space," a sci-fi movie starring Zsa Zsa Gabor as its annual Thanksgiving turkey-of-a-movie Nov. 20 at 2 p.m. Admission is free.
Benefit show tickets
STRUTHERS -- Tickets for the Struthers Firefighters annual benefit concert are available at Encore Music Productions, 6600 South Ave., Suite No. 3, or by calling (330) 750-0379.
The Beatlemania concert will be at 8 p.m. Jan. 21 at the Struthers Middle School auditorium. Tickets cost $15 and are all general admission.
According to Mike Agnone, president of Struthers Firefighters Local 1910, proceeds will benefit, among other organizations, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Struthers baseball and football leagues, Struthers High School sports programs, the middle school Destination Imagination team, People to People student program and the families of firefighters killed in the line of duty.
Seeking young actors
The National Society of Arts and Letters, Ohio River Valley Chapter, is seeking local young actors to enter a nationwide Comedic Drama competition.
Contestants must be 18 to 29 years old, U.S. citizens and not under professional contract. Each will be required to present two monologues or soliloquies from memory in English within a six-minute period.
The chapter will select regional winners during a competition March 19, 2005, at West Virginia University-Parkersburg. The winner will be awarded $1,000 and an all-expense paid trip to the national finals May 18-21 in Honolulu where the first place award will be $10,000.

Educational forum set
AKRON -- Musicians will network with industry representatives at an educational forum at 7 p.m. Dec. 14 at Lime Spider, 207 S. Main St. It's sponsored by Undercurrents, a music showcase company in Cleveland. Jakob Ward, who is Akron-Canton-Kent regional director for Undercurrents, will discuss "How to Succeed in the Music Business." Admission is free.
