Four area standouts awarded top honors

Howland's Jaime Kelly, Salem's Sarah Hamilton, Crestview's Tricia Richards and Lordstown's Alycia Israel have been selected the Northeast Ohio District's volleyball players of the year.
Joining Kelly, a senior, on the Division I first team are: Junior Brittany Kelly, Howland; junior April Melquist and senior Jen DeChellis, Boardman; seniors Kelly Reese, Stephanie Jarvis and Kerrie Haurin, Canfield; and senior Jessica Evans and sophomore Caitlin O'Patchen, Fitch.
Three players from Canfield and two apiece from Boardman and Harding are on the Div. I second team. Those players are: Freshman Katie Spatara and sophomore Amy Pawlosky, Boardman; juniors Krystyn Flanagan and Amanda Crisman, Harding; junior Natasha Kassim, freshman Kelsey Owen and freshman Jackie Nentwick, Canfield; freshman Taylor Summerfield, Howland; and junior Nicole Smaldino, Fitch.
Coaches of the year are Canfield's Ronie Haurin and Howland's Mark Kelly.
Division II
Quakers teammate Jessica Potts, a senior, joins classmate Hamilton on the Div. II district first team. Other members are: senior Kylene Hoch, Hubbard; juniors Michele Antonelli and Lindsay Whetzel, Lakeview; senior Dee Muransky and sophomore Doni Muransky, Poland; senior Evelyn Woods, West Branch; senior Jenna Yanni, East Liverpool; and senior Ami Markowitz, Liberty.
Three Hubbard Eagles -- sophomore Maggie Bogdan, junior Callie Oyler and senior Danielle Nock -- are on the Div. II second team. Other members are: Senior Dena New, West Branch; senior Katie Finnicum, Salem; junior Lauren McCumber, Lakeview; sophomore Ashley Conger and senior Mollie Patrick, Poland; senior Brianne Bishop, East Liverpool; and sophomore Mallory Yajko, Beaver Local.
Hubbard's Chuck Montgomery was selected Div. II coach of the year.

Division III
Richards helped the Rebels post a 25-0 record before losing to defending state champion Orrville in the Div. III regional final. Crestview coach Alisha Auer was selected coach of the year.

Two Rebels -- sophomore Elyse Mongillo and junior Michelle Parks -- are on the Div. III second team. Other members are: Junior Chelsea Morrison, Girard; senior Emily McArthur, United; senior Kylee Crittenden, Columbiana; senior Heather Snyder, Springfield; senior Melissa Browne, Lisbon; freshman Morgan Bonekovic, Brookfield; junior Tara Chizmar, South Range; and senior Lindsay Templeton, Champion.

Division IV
In Div. IV, two Western Reserve players -- seniors Tekla Toman and Sara Kutsko -- join Israel on the first team.
Other members are: Junior Michelle Clark, Bristol; sophomore Sophie Paddock, Mathews; senior Ashley Bach, Southern; junior Megan Witmer, Jackson-Milton; and junior Ashley Amabeli, Sebring.
Lordstown's Pat Keney was named Coach of the Year. Two of his players -- seniors Christa Israel and Samantha Kistler -- were named to the second team.
Also on the team are: Junior Rachel Karash, Jackson-Milton; junior Marysa Burchett, Bristol; senior Katie Harmon, Western Reserve; junior Jordan Hardval, Mathews; senior Stacie Skeensm, Southern; and junior Kayla Faudree, Sebring.
Players and coaches were selected by the area members of the Volleyball Coaches Association.
