Allegheny thumped by Wittenberg, 42-21



The Tigers posted their seventh win, including fifth in the NCAC.

SPRINGFIELD -- Ryan Holmes passed for two scores and Tristan Murray ran for 249 yards and another two touchdowns to lead Wittenberg to a 42-21 win over Allegheny on Saturday.
Jered Glover and Braden Freeman each added two touchdowns for the Tigers (7-3, 5-2 North Coast Conference). Glover ran 11 yards for one score and caught a 16-yard pass from Holmes for the other. Freeman opened the scoring with an 11-yard run and later caught an 8-yard TD pass from Holmes.
Holmes completed 17 of 25 passes for 238 yards without an interception.
Malone 38, Quincy 35
CANTON -- Brad Reifsnyder threw three touchdown passes in the fourth quarter and Eric Smith ran for two scores, the second with 1:08 remaining for the clinching points, to lead Malone.
Reifsnyder completed just 15 of 34 passes for 179 yards with two interceptions, but his scoring tosses helped the Pioneers (4-6, 2-5 Mid-States Football Association Mideast League) overcome a 21-7 deficit heading into the fourth quarter. He hit Chad Szalay on a 15-yarder, Nyrell Knight for a 13-yard score and Alphonso Owen on a 42-yard scoring pass.
The TD throw to Owen came with 2:23 left, capping a 67-yard drive in just over 90 seconds to give Malone its first lead of the game, 31-28.
Urbana 10, Geneva 3
URBANA -- Kodi Lindsay recovered a fumble, intercepted a pass and had a sack to lead an Urbana defense that limited Geneva to 172 yards.
Geron Stokes scored on a 1-yard keeper less than 90 seconds after the opening kickoff for the only touchdown. Mike Salas added a 29-yard field goal for Urbana.
The Blue Knights (5-6, 5-2) ended up third in the league for their best finish ever and the five wins matched the school record.
St. Francis, Ind. 42, Walsh 14
FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- Cory Jacquay rushed for 120 yards and three touchdowns, helping St. Francis (Ind.) stay undefeated.
Two first-quarter TD runs -- a 2-yarder by Jacquay and a 13-yarder by Adam Denning -- gave the Cougars (10-0, 7-0) a 14-0 lead. Jacquay then rushed for a 10-yard touchdown with 10:26 to play in the first half for a 21-0 lead.
Walsh (8-3, 6-1) managed just 57 yards of total offense, with Darryl Lyons scoring both touchdowns on kickoff returns -- one for 93 yards late in the first half and the other for 94 yards early in the third.
Oberlin 48, Hiram 7
HIRAM -- Chris Jordan scored three touchdowns -- one on a fumble recovery in the end zone and the other two on running plays -- to lead Oberlin over Hiram.
Jordan, who finished with 90 yards on 12 carries, scored on rushes of 5 and 63 yards. Before that, however, his recovery in the end zone gave the Yeomen (1-9, 1-7 North Coast Conference) a 13-0 lead.
