COLUMBUS -- Cardinal Mooney senior Kiki Willis earned Division II boys soccer player of the year honors for the second straight year and was one of three area players to earn first team All-Ohio honors by the Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches' Association.
Champion senior John Emery earned first team honors in Div. III, while Mooney junior Marisa Simon was on the girls first team in Div. II.
Willis -- whose sister, Kelli, earned second team honors in Div. II -- set the state record for career goals earlier this season. He has 56 this season -- a school record -- and 171 for his career.
He'll lead the Cardinals (20-1-1) against Watkins Memorial (20-2-1) in today's Div. II state championship game. Mooney won its only state title in 2002.
Emery, who holds school records for goals in a season and a career, was joined by Nate Mailach, who earned coach of the year honors after directing the Flashes to back-to-back district titles.
Fitch senior Anthony Coluluca was on the third team in Div. I, while Niles senior Nate Mang and Poland senior Lenny Liguore were on the third team in Div. II.
In Div. III, Warren JFK senior Kyle Schimley was on the second team, while LaBrae junior Blaine Peterson and Badger senior Josh Gilliland were on the third team.
Fitch's James Thompson was named Division I girls assistant coach of the year as the Falcons finished second behind Massillon Jackson in the Federal League. Howland senior Annastacia Filippidis earned third team honors.
In Division II, Mooney's Joe DeMay earned assistant coach of the year honors, while Poland sophomore Stephanie Armstrong was on the third team after helping the Bulldogs to the district title.
