Workshop promotes lung cancer awareness

LIBERTY -- There will be a program on lung cancer from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Holiday Inn MetroPlex for people with lung cancer and their families.
The free workshop & quot;Frankly Speaking About Lung Cancer, & quot; is sponsored by the American Cancer Society, Forum Health's Cancer Care Centers and Humility of Mary Health Partners Cancer Centers as part of the activities during lung cancer awareness month in November.
Dr. Robert DeMarco, a local pulmonologist, will be a featured speaker, along with Deborah Dashko, a registered nurse.
The program will focus on areas that people often neglect and sometimes forget to prepare for while undergoing treatment. The workshop will also provide information on how to live better with lung cancer and what action needs to be taken.
According to statistics provided by the American Cancer Society, about 500 people in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties will be diagnosed with lung cancer in 2004.
The workshop is free and open to the public. To register, call the American Cancer Society at (888) 227-6446.
