Arena operator planssales expo downtown
YOUNGSTOWN -- Global Entertainment, operator of the downtown arena, will have a sales expo from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Youngstown Club on Commerce Street.
Sales staff will update progress on arena construction, take orders for premium seating and answer questions about advertising. Global also will announce the owners of the Central Hockey League team that will play in the arena, scheduled to open next fall.
Those attending the expo are asked to call Global by Nov. 15 at (330) 744-7000.
Contract talks continuewith Vienna plant's union
VIENNA -- Contract negotiations are continuing at Lexington Connectors after the company sent the union and its members a letter warning that the plant could be closed. A contract with International Union of Electrical Workers Local 84727, which represents about 250 workers, expires Dec. 10.
Nathan Offerdahl, local president, said the letter reported that the company wants to consolidate the making of connector seals for the automotive industry into either the local plant or one in Georgia.
"I'm cautiously optimistic that we can keep the jobs here," Offerdahl said.
Bargaining sessions are scheduled into next week, he said. Company officials could not be reached to comment.
