A summary of recent crime activity in Girard, Liberty, Hubbard and Poland:
GIRARD
Nov. 6
Attempted theft: A woman reported damage to a vending machine in front of Family Video, 801 N. State St., and that money was tossed around after someone likely shook the machine.
Drugs: After investigating a suspicious person near Woody's Bar & amp; Grill, 718 N. State St., police arrested a Girard man near North State Street and Stambaugh Avenue. He was charged with possession of drug-abuse instruments after officers say they found in a cigarette box a suspected glass tube used to smoke crack cocaine.
Nov. 7
Possible criminal damage: A Lisbon man reported parking his truck near a Shell gas station, 420 S. State St., and that after another vehicle left, he noticed damage to the truck's driver's side.
Nov. 8
Theft: A man and his wife in the 400 block of East Kline Street discovered two credit cards stolen, and that $6,000 worth of fraudulent withdrawals had been made from various automated teller machines.
LIBERTY
Nov. 1
Theft: An employee at K & amp;P Sportswear, 3551 Belmont Ave., alleged a co-worker may have taken $450 from an area near a cash register.
Nov. 2
Stolen property: A man reported the possible theft of his $109 cellular phone at his residence in the 1500 block of Liberty Avenue.
Aggravated menacing: A woman in the 3000 block of Frederick Street called police after she said a former friend threatened during a phone conversation to have her killed.
Nov. 3
Theft: A man reported a $280 revolver stolen from his apartment in the 30 block of Trumbull Court.
Criminal damage: A man in the 10 block of Tuttle Drive noticed $250 in damage had been done to his vehicle's bumper and that scratches were on its trunk lid.
Nov. 4
Attempted passing bad checks: An employee at Midwest Money Center, 3026 Belmont Ave., told police a Youngstown man, 20, tried to cash a $425 check later determined to have been written on a nonexistent account.
Bad check: An employee at Home Savings and Loan, 3500 Belmont Ave., reported a Youngstown man, 47, cashed a $4,500 check later determined to be counterfeit.
Forgery: An employee at Valley Counseling Services Inc., 4970 Belmont Ave., alleged a former worker improperly billed patients for $6,075 worth of services that were never rendered.
Stolen property: Police arrested a 29-year-old Masury man at the Lampost Bar on Belmont Avenue on one felony count of receiving stolen property. Officers ran a registration check on a 1987 Chevrolet Cavalier and determined a license plate had been stolen.
Nov. 5
Theft: A woman discovered a $425 money order missing from her apartment in the 30 block of Trumbull Court.
Nov. 6
Theft: A man called police after two people left his apartment in the 3000 block of Frederick Street and he noticed $20 missing.
Vehicle theft: A Youngstown man discovered his 1992 GMC Jimmy stolen while he was at Choice's Niteclub, 1620 Motor Inn Drive.
Theft: An employee at the Liberty Township building, 1315 Church Hill-Hubbard Road, reported suspicious activity, and police later determined a man took an undetermined amount of money from a donation can.
Nov. 7
Auto theft: A Youngstown woman reported that, after leaving the keys to her 2004 Dodge Stratus at Auto Zone, 3109 Belmont Ave., her son returned and found the car was missing.
Nov. 8
Bad checks: A Youngstown man alleged his former girlfriend, 44, stole some checks and cashed one at First Place Bank, 600 Gypsy Lane, for $150.
Attempted breaking and entering: Someone tried to gain entry into Auto Zone by prying open the front door.
Auto theft: A man reported his 1988 Dodge Aries stolen from the Big Lots parking lot, 3491 Belmont Ave.
Breaking and entering: A Girard man called police after someone broke a rear garage door to enter an empty building in the 3100 block of Belmont Avenue.
HUBBARD
Nov. 3
Domestic violence: Police arrested a 38-year-old man at his residence in the 500 block of West Liberty Street on a domestic-violence charge after his wife reported a disturbance at their apartment.
Criminal mischief: A woman in 500 block of Creekside Drive found damage to her mailbox.
Nov. 5
Bad check: An employee at First National Bank, 39 W. Liberty St., reported two people tried to cash a bad check.
Drugs: An employee at Hubbard High School, 350 Hall Ave., told police he caught a student disseminating prescription drugs to other students.
Theft: An employee at Paige & amp; Byrnes Insurance, 342 W. Liberty St., reported a possible theft-by-deception crime. No other details were available.
Nov. 6
Theft: A woman reported a cement bear statue stolen from her front yard in the 200 block of Christian Avenue.
Nov. 7
Theft: A woman in the 400 block of Erie Street discovered her purse stolen from her vehicle's trunk, possibly while she was at Frankie's Main Street Cafe, 368 N. Main St.
Theft: A man noticed several tools stolen from a carport near his home in the 400 block of Jones Street.
Nov. 8
Arrest: A Hubbard man, no age given, was arrested in Youngstown on a warrant from Hubbard charging him with failure to appear in court on a charge of failure to file his 2002 income taxes.
Nov. 9
Theft: A woman and her son in the 500 block of Center Street reported the son's bicycle stolen while he was on Jones Street.
POLAND
Nov. 3
Criminal damage: A man in the 30 block of Poland Manor Drive reported someone threw a rock through his front window.
Vandalism: A woman in the 100 block of Delaware Avenue reported finding some pumpkins that were on her porch smashed in the street and that someone may have tossed a plastic pumpkin at her residence.
Nov. 4
Possible theft: A Warren man called police to report a forklift missing from the Walgreen Pharmacy construction site near U.S. Route 224 and state Route 170.
