Anne Frank's stepsisterwill return to Valley
YOUNGSTOWN -- Eva Schloss, the stepsister of Anne Frank, will return to the Youngstown area next spring as Holocaust Awareness month is observed.
Her visit coincides with the world premier of a new play, "Block 5" which deals with the Holocaust and was written by local playwright J.E. Ballantyne Jr. It is based on an actual event at Mauthausen Concentration Camp in 1943.
Schloss will meet members of the audience and speak about her experiences in a concentration camp during the war.
Plans also are under way to present a play about her life and internment. "And Then They Came For Me," written by James Still, is scheduled to run in conjunction with Holocaust Remembrance Day in May.
