Grove City professor receives Scout award
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Dr. Fred Brenner, professor of biology at Grove City College, has been named recipient of one of the French Creek Council, Boy Scouts of America's 18th annual Distinguished Citizen awards.
Brenner is a certified ecologist, certified wildlife biologist, professional wetland scientist and certified environmental inspector.
He is president and chief scientist of Brenner's Ecological Services in Grove City and president and chief executive officer of Urban Wetlands Institute. He also is a Paul Harris Fellow with Rotary International and a James E. West Fellow with Boy Scouts of America.
Brenner belongs to 25 professional societies and has been listed among "Who's Who in American Teachers," "Who's Who in America," "Community Leaders in America" and "Outstanding Educators in America."
He has served as Mercer County Regional Planning Commission chairman, Shenango Conservancy past board member and Grove City Rotary Club past president.
Brenner also is on the French Creek Council Boy Scouts' executive board and served as the first camp director of Custaloga Town Scout Reservation in Mercer County.
