GOLF Poland's Sweeney, JFK's Rogner receive first-team district honors



POLAND -- John Sweeney, a senior at Poland High, was named to the All-Northeast Ohio District boys Division I first-team golf team.
Poland senior Adam Wigley made the honorable mention.
In Div. II, junior Randy Crowe of West Branch was picked to the second team while on the honorable mention squad are senior Jonathan Hamarik of Cardinal Mooney and junior Ben Heverly of West Branch.
Six Warren JFK boys were honored in Div. III -- Patrick Moro and Scott Difford (first team), Nick Moody and Zack Bowen (second team) and Jim Pipino and Matt Nuzzi (honorable mention).
From Columbiana, Jason Hall made first team, David Vitko earned second team and Jared Patton was named honorable mention. All are seniors.
From Jackson-Milton, Josh Rybak made first team, Matt Pirko earned second team and Kelly Pennington was named honorable mention.
Girls
Among the girls, Katie Rogner a sophomore at Warren JFK was picked first team while on second team are Mollie Boney (Mooney) and Brittney Binko (Warren JFK).
Ten local players made the honorable mention honor squad -- Cara Graneto, Jennifer Hudock and Sara Poppas of Canfield; Stephanie Mrozek, Jennifer Rossi and Alison Straub of Poland; Emily O'Palka and Mackenzie Dobson of Warren JFK; Jane Hutch (Mooney); and Yvonne Goll (Salem).
