Gas well regulations
Here is a quick look at some guidelines under new state regulations for getting a permit to drill a gas well:
Must show a "drilling unit" of at least one homeowner on contiguous property of 40 acres or more.
Those residing in the drilling unit acreage must agree to lease their property to the drilling company.
The bottom of the well must be 500 feet from anyone not included in the lease agreement.
Anyone living within 500 feet of the drilling site (the above-ground location) must be notified of the drilling permit application if there are 15 or more homes within 500 feet and not in the 40-acre drilling unit.
