WARREN -- A 14-year-old boy, who police say swore at them, has pleaded innocent to misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and obstruction of official business.
Regis Allgood entered the pleas Thursday in Trumbull County Juvenile Court. He is scheduled to return to court Nov. 23.
Regis' brother Donald, 16, and sister, Canchata, 15, are also facing charges.
Donald faces charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest and Canchata faces charges of resisting arrest and assault on a peace officer.
Donald and Canchata are scheduled to be arraigned on the charges later this month, according to their attorney, Gilbert Rucker.
"I'm not surprised by the charges, because at this point I expect the authorities to do whatever they can to create confusion to disguise the violation of the rights of the citizens of the city of Warren," said Rucker.
Rucker and the teenagers' mother, Tarra Brown, 34, of Atlantic Street, say they believe police did not act properly during the Oct. 19 arrests.
Brown has filed a complaint with the department's internal affairs unit. The complaint is pending.
Police first arrested Regis after they say he swore at them. Rucker says it is not against the law to swear at police officers.
The other two teenagers and Brown were arrested after police said they began fighting with officers.
Pleaded innocent
Brown pleaded innocent Oct. 20 in municipal court to charges of assault on a police officer and resisting arrest.
According to reports, patrol officers Doug Hipple and Nick Carney were on bike patrol around 4:24 p.m. Oct. 19 when Regis yelled profanities at officers, Carney's report says.
The officers asked the juvenile his name, but he refused to reply and continued to use vulgar language, the report states.
Regis denies the allegations.
Canchata also said the officers sprayed her with Mace and then ordered her to take her shirts off. The cruiser that transported Canchata to the juvenile justice center was not equipped with a video recorder.
