Katie Naumoff, a 2003 Poland High graduate, will be entering her sophomore season on the Florida Institute of Technology softball team next year with high hopes of exceeding her freshman achievements of this past 2004 season.
The school is located in Melbourne, Fla.
Naumoff, an outfielder, led the Panthers in on-base percentage (.440) and ranked second in batting average (.339) after hitting above .400 for most of the season to lead the team's offense.
She helped the Panthers to a 29-18-1 record, including 7-14 in the Sunshine State Conference, and a No. 8 South Region ranking in the NCAA Division II.
Home run
Naumoff contributed 40 hits, scored 16 runs, drove in 11 runs and had a .957 fielding average. She socked her first and only collegiate homer on April 3 in a 7-4 win over St. Leo University.
She also ranked eighth in the SCC in on-base percentage and 10th in batting average.
For Naumoff's first-year performance, she was named the Florida Tech Rookie of the Year and was selected to the All-SSC second team.
The daughter of Gloria and Jim Naumoff, Katie also excelled in the classroom. She was one of 81 Florida Tech student-athletes who each won a Scholar-Athlete Award.
While at Poland, Naumoff was selected to the All-Ohio first team as a senior outfielder in 2003 when she led the Bulldogs in batting average (.478) and on-base percentage (.548).
She finished her Poland career with a .408 batting average and 118 hits in 289 trips.
