Man stabs 2, kills wife, self
PAINESVILLE, Ohio (AP) -- A man stabbed himself and his estranged wife to death and attacked two relatives in a rampage prompted by a family dispute, authorities said.
Police arrived at Terra and Roderick Coffee's home early Thursday to find a blood-soaked porch and a bleeding man in the back. As officers approached Jimmie Rice, he raised a butcher knife above his chest and plunged it into his heart.
Inside, police discovered Rice's sister-in-law, Terra Coffee, stabbed in the shoulder. She was released from LakeEast Hospital on Thursday. Roderick Coffee II, stabbed 27 times, was in good condition Friday at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.
Lake County deputy sheriffs found Rice's wife, Tina, in her home. The 33-year-old died of multiple stab wounds to her head and chest, according to Lake County Coroner Sal Rizzo. Jimmie Rice, 42, of Painesville, died of multiple self-inflicted stab wounds, the coroner said. Police counted 12 wounds on him.
Police believe the stabbings were prompted by a family dispute.
