No action taken in Columbiana Co.

Neither political party in Columbiana County filed a challenge to voters Tuesday.
Jerry Ward, the Republican party chairman and head of the elections board, and Dennis Johnson, the Democrat party chairman and election board member, said their challengers took no action.
The county has 1,084 provisional ballots that were questioned at the county's 103 precincts on Tuesday. They will be checked starting today to make sure their ballots were correct.
Ward said the majority of provisional ballots are ultimately found to be proper.
The number of provisional ballots is higher than usual, according to the elections officials, but registration was at an all-time high of 78,536 voters.
A Republican challenge to 49 voters was dismissed by the elections board before the election. Some of those people could have had their ballots marked as provision by poll workers, Ward and Johnson said.
The provisional ballots could affect two races. There's a 495-vote gap between the apparent winner, incumbent State Rep. Chuck Blasdel of East Liverpool, R-1st, and Democrat challenger Frank E. Rayle Jr. Democrat Craig Brown upset incumbent county Republican Recorder Jeff Hochadel by 618 votes.
