TELEVISION WFMJ launches affiliate station
YOUNGSTOWN -- WFMJ Television Inc. has launched an affiliate of The WB Television Network. The new station, WBCB, began transmitting today as part of WFMJ's digital spectrum and will be broadcast over the air as 21-2.
Homes with digital television sets can receive the new station over the air. Those without digital TV sets can watch WBCB on local cable companies such as Time Warner, Armstrong, Adelphia, Comcast and Cebridge Communications. Remaining cable systems will begin carrying the new station Dec. 1.
John Grdic, general manager of 21 WFMJ and WBCB, says, "WBCB and The WB will tap into a segment of the population that is not generally represented. WBCB and The WB is targeting a younger demographic and will be programming primarily to those 18-34 years of age."
WBCB is set up to broadcast the WB's prime time from 8 to 10 p.m. Sunday through Friday and Kids' WB schedules from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday. WB has added several specials for November, including "Lord of the Rings; Fellowship of the Ring" to be aired at 8 p.m. Sunday and Monday, and "Samantha: An American Girl Holiday," scheduled for 8 p.m. Nov. 23. The WB Kids' schedule includes shows such as "Pokemon," "Yu-Gi-Oh!" and "The Batman."
