WNBA ROUNDUP | Sunday's games

Liberty 68, Lynx 64
MINNEAPOLIS -- Elena Baranova scored 16 points and Shameka Christon added 11 to lead the New York Liberty to a victory over the Minnesota Lynx. The Liberty won their third straight and first on the road after dropping their season-opener by a basket at Indiana. Katie Smith led Minnesota with 20 points, and Teresa Edwards added 13. Minnesota trailed most of the game, but tied it at 46 on Amanda Jacobs' 3-pointer with 11:35 to play. The Liberty answered with the next five points, including a long 3-pointer by Baranova. Stacey Lovelace-Tolbert hit consecutive shots inside to bring Minnesota back to within one. The Lynx took their only lead on Amanda Lassiter's 3-pointer from the corner that made it 58-57 with 2:25 left. New York scored the next five points and held the Lynx scoreless until the final 15 seconds. Becky Hammon, who had a career-high and franchise-record 33 points in the Liberty's win at Minnesota last year, finished with nine points, eight rebounds and eight assists for New York.
Comets 63, Monarchs 57
HOUSTON -- Tina Thompson's big game helped the Houston Comets end another May with a winning record. Thompson scored 27 points, including a perfect 4-of-4 from 3-point range, to lead the Comets to victory over the Sacramento Monarchs. Thompson got Houston going with eight points in the first eight minutes, then put the Comets on top to stay with her final 3-pointer with 5:07 left. The victory allowed the Comets (3-2) to avoid their first losing record in the month of May in franchise history. Kendra Holland-Corn added 12 points and some big defensive stops for the Comets after struggling with her shot during the Comets' first four games.
