XAUSTINTOWN -- Nuptial vows were exchanged April 17 during a 4 p.m. ceremony as Samantha F. Brdek and Andrew C. Slocum, both of Glendale Heights, Ill., were united in marriage at Austintown Community Church.
The Rev. David Roberts presided at the ceremony for the daughter of George Sr. and Alicia Brdek of Youngstown, and son of Tom and Sally Slocum of Akron.
The couple accepted congratulations during a reception held at Shangri La in Canfield. They live in Glendale Heights.
Gold embroidery, crystals and beading adorned the bride's strapless ivory satin gown. It featured a laced-up back, and the A-line skirt extended into a demi train.
Wearing candy apple red gowns were the honor attendant, Donna Dercoli, and the bridesmaids, Andrea Brdek and Cassandra Brdek, sisters of the bride; and Anna Hutchison, her cousin.
Tim Shoenfelt performed the duties of best man, and groomsmen were Raymond Kennedy, the groom's cousin; Jim Burke; and George Brdek Jr., a brother of the bride.
The bride and groom graduated from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. She earned a bachelor's degree in computer science, and he received a bachelor's and a master's in computer science. She is employed at Glenwood Dental Care in Glendale Heights, Ill., and he is employed at Thought Works in Chicago.
