Phillies fans don't forgive rejection: Drew booed again as Braves win
He's still vilified by Philadelphia fans after spurning a lucrative contract offer in '97.

PHILADELPHIA -- J.D. Drew ripped a shot into the right-center field seats, put his head down and trotted around the bases the same way he does after each homer.
Seven years later, the Philadelphia fans still boo each time Drew comes to the plate. Drew insists it doesn't bother him.
Drew drove in three runs and John Thomson pitched seven strong innings, leading the Atlanta Braves over the Phillies 9-3 Saturday.
"They won't ever forgot around here," Drew said. "I just focus on what I can control."
Drew is vilified by Philadelphia fans because he spurned a lucrative offer after the Phillies selected him with the No. 2 overall pick in the 1997 amateur draft, re-entered the draft and signed with St. Louis.
In Drew's first game with the Cardinals at the now-demolished Veterans Stadium in 1999, some fans threw batteries at him.
"It's in the past," Drew said.
Rafael Furcal had a two-run triple, and Dewayne Wise had three hits and two RBIs for Atlanta, which has won seven of 10.
Vicente Padilla (4-5) allowed four runs and five hits in five innings before leaving with an inflamed right elbow. He has tendinitis, and was placed on the 15-day disabled list after the game.

HOUSTON -- Albert Pujols homered twice, going 4-for-5 with three RBIs to lead the St. Louis Cardinals to their fifth straight win.
Pujols homered in the first and fifth innings off Wade Miller (5-5), his second multihomer game this season and the eighth of his career.
Pujols has five homers in his last seven games, raising his season total to 14, which tied Arizona's Steve Finley and Colorado's Jeromy Burnitz and Vinny Castilla for the major league lead.
Cody McKay went 4-for-5 for the Cardinals, who had 16 hits, and Roger Cedeno hit his first home run since last Sept. 16 for the New York Mets against the Chicago Cubs. St. Louis tied the Astros for second in the NL Central at 26-22.

Marlins 3, Mets 2, 10 innings
MIAMI -- Mike Lowell homered off former Florida closer Braden Looper in the 10th inning, giving the Marlins a victory over the New York Mets.
Lowell's 14th home run of the season, which tied for the major league lead, easily cleared the left-field wall and helped Florida (29-20) move a season-best nine games over .500.
Looper (0-1) was making his first appearance in his former home park since signing with the Mets in the offseason. He worked out of a jam in the ninth, but couldn't retire Lowell in the 10th.
Justin Wayne (3-1), the fourth Florida pitcher, worked a perfect 10th to cap a one-hit, three-inning showing by the bullpen, which helped the NL East-leading Marlins take a two-game lead over Philadelphia.
