Crocodile expert Brady Barr tries to help the Ugandan government deal with "rogue" crocodiles in "Killer Crocs of Uganda" (8 p.m., MSNBC). The National Geographic Ultimate Explorer reveals that officials had resorted to shooting them, but Barr hopes that rangers can be trained in the tricky task of relocating the menacing critters.
This dramatization, "Something the Lord Made" (9 p.m., HBO) examines the stunning advances a white doctor and his black lab technician made in operating on "blue babies," infants with a congenital heart defect that slowly suffocates them. Alfred Blalock (Alan Rickman) and Vivien Thomas (Mos Def) not only face difficulty in finding a medical solution, they also must deal with the societal issues that surround being a biracial team at Johns Hopkins Hospital in the 1940s. Directed by Emmy-winner Joseph Sargent, the film also features Kyra Sedgwick.
Those old cowboy movies never led us to believe that fine dining was part of the experience, but now "cowboy cooking teams" compete to see who can prepare the tastiest meal over an open fire in "Cowboy Challenge" (9 p.m., Food Network).
