CLASS B LEAGUE Fast start helps Line Drive to win



Reid Lamport struck out 16 in his opening night win.
STRUTHERS -- Line Drive Academy scored five runs in the first inning and added four unearned runs in the fourth to open the Class B baseball season with a 10-0 win over Youngstown Propane on Thursday at Cene Park.
Adam Zakowski allowed just two hits and had two hits and three RBIs. Adam Boris, Grant Sevek, and Anthony Porter had two hits each for Line Drive. Aaron Boris had a triple, while Sevek, Porter, and Kevin Sikora had doubles for Line Drive.
Mike Evans and Ben Detwiler had hits for Propane.
Astro Falcons 12,Youngstown Express 1
Astro Falcons fell behind 1-0, then scored the next 12 runs.
John Morris pitched the complete game three-hitter, striking out seven and walking three. He also had three hits and two RBIs.
Adam Wigley had two hits, two stolen bases and three RBIs and Brett Pitzulo had two hits, including a double.
For Youngstown Express, Steve Stenglein had a double and a single.
Mink Financial 8, Roth Brothers 4
Ryan Hallopy hit a solo home run in the sixth inning and a two-run shot in the seventh to lead Mink Financial.
Jay Yorty went the first 62/3 innings for the victory. He allowed two earned runs with nine strikeouts.
Sean McBride had two doubles and four runs batted in for Mink Financial. Bob Mackall had two hits for Roth while Bobby Smith suffered the loss, going 61/3 innings with three walks.
Livi Steel 8,Dave Sugar Construction 7
Livi Steel broke out to a 6-0 lead after two innings then survived a four-run rally in the top of the seventh inning by Dave Sugar Construction.
Shawn Carr had two triples for Livi Steel and Tone Pozeaga had a pair of singles.
Jay Mitaly went the first 62/3 for the win with Justin Byler getting the save as he pitched out of a bases loaded jam in the seventh inning. Byler also had two runs batted in.
Ethan Taylor had a double for Sugar Construction and Chris Aracich had two hits.
Rondinelli 13, Wharmby Sports 3
Rondinelli used a 17 hit attack and the 16 strikeout performance of Reid Lamport to defeat Wharmby's.
Craig Cimino had three hits, including one of the six doubles on the night for Rondinelli. George Kovac hit two doubles.
Craig Dobos had a triple and a double for Rondinelli.
Lamport allowed just four hits and only one earned run. He walked two.
J.C. McCoy had a double for Wharmby.
