WOODLAND PARK Summer park programs offer all a chance for fun



Swimming and story times are just some of the activities.
McDONALD -- A variety of summer activities are included in the recreation schedule for Woodland Park.
Registration materials and information for children about park activities and the summer swim program at the high school have all been distributed to youngsters through the McDonald schools.
Adult volleyball should begin in mid-June. Those interested should sign up at the municipal building by Memorial Day. Two groups will be formed, and teams and schedules will be announced.
The annual tennis clinic starts on June 5 and runs every Saturday until June 26 at the tennis courts across from the park, located on Pennsylvania Avenue. The park road is blocked off to vehicle traffic for the children's safety between Fifth Street and Sixth Street.
Children should register for the tennis program by no later than June 2 by submitting their form to the municipal building or mailing it to: Village of McDonald, Tennis Program, 451 Ohio Ave., McDonald 44437. Schedules for tennis will be posted at the Water and Tax Department window and at the tennis courts by June 4.
Other activities
The pool at the park opens, weather permitting, at 11:30 a.m. weekdays. Crafts will be held every Friday at 11 a.m. in the park shanty.
Youth basketball sign-up will be held at the courts for the village's summer clinic. The girls' clinic will be held Tuesdays at 1 p.m. starting June 8, and the boys' clinic will be Wednesdays at 1 p.m. starting June 9.
Story time will begin at 11 a.m. June 8 in the gazebo. The program will continue every Tuesday throughout the summer depending on participation.
The annual bike parade will be Aug. 5 along with the Chalk on the Walk and an obstacle course. Times will be announced closer to the events. The annual park movie schedule has also been set and will start on June 8 and continue every Tuesday through the summer starting at dusk.
