Orlando Magic gets No. 1 pick; just who they pick is the question

SECAUCUS, N.J. (AP) -- The Orlando Magic are the NBA's best team when it comes to winning games with Ping-Pong balls.
Wednesday, night, the Magic won the NBA Draft Lottery and the right to draft first for a record third time since 1992.
"This is our World Series," said Magic senior vice president Pat Williams, who has represented the team on stage at each lottery. "These are our finals in Orlando. We have a trophy case in Orlando with no trophies in it. We have Ping-Pong balls."
As he spoke, Williams clutched a ball with the No. 1 on it, the latest trophy for Orlando's case.
Whether this ball turns the Magic into a real champion is questionable.
No clear No. 1
Unlike a year ago, the draft in which the Los Angeles Clippers will pick second and Chicago third doesn't have a clear No. 1 pick such as LeBron James.
Connecticut center Emeka Okafor and Atlanta high school star Dwight Howard have been mentioned prominently as possible top picks, but each has drawbacks.
Okafor has battled a back problem and Howard is like any youngster -- one never knows.
The teams that were supposed to pick in the sixth through 14th spots in the draft remained in that order.
Washington slipped two spots to No. 5, opening the door for the Clippers to move up.
The expansion Charlotte Bobcats were slotted into No. 4.
Final three envelopes
The final three envelopes opened by deputy commissioner Russ Granik belonged to Chicago, the Clippers and Orlando. The Bulls, who had the second-best chance at winning, had their card opened first, giving them the third pick.
Atlanta will have the sixth choice, followed by Phoenix, Toronto, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Golden State, Seattle, Portland and Utah.
The draft will be held June 24 in New York City.
